March 15th, 2007You Could Have One if You’d Just Lay Down Your Tracks
I did promise more photos from Fort Missoula, I did not, however, count on our ISP switch to leave us internet-less. I only got a little cranky, I swear! (I can hear you all now in unison, “poor Dan!”)
These are (obviously) of a steam train located near the museum at Historic Fort Missoula. When you walk up to the platform there’s a bit of information that I didn’t bother to read, and you can look inside the cab. [edit] If you know as little about steam trains as I do, check out the Wiki. It has a diagram that labels all of the components.
Wondering what that funky red ‘building’ is behind the train? I didn’t think so, but there are photos of the Wood Chipper (or so Dan tells me) at a later date.

Sorry about your ‘net troubles. How long were you without? Must have been hard.
Nice photos.

Not long — since Tuesday around 5pm. Our old ISP was supposed to disconnect so the new ISP could connect, and well… the old ISP is the old one for a reason.

I’ve probably been there! Since my ex-husband dragged me to every steam locomotive site west of Kansas City.
And every lighthouse from Aberdeen WA to Florence OR!
At least he let me alone to tour the Smithsonian for three days straight, while he trekked Civil War battlefields.
I didn’t know his quirks before we married. I swear!

I love the old steam locomotives! There’s one on display back where I’m from but I haven’t been near it in years. Last time I remember being there I took photos of my (little) kids on it. Cool!
Husbands have quirks??
Nahhh….

“You Could Have One if You’d Just Lay Down Your Tracks”
Don’t tell MY husband that! He got to ride one of those at Fort Edmonton and it was one of the biggest thrills of his life. He also has a train simulation program for the computer that bores me to tears!

That picture of the bell makes me want to hit it with a wooden spoon. My nephews love trains.

I rode the one at Fort Edmonton too! That was back in the 80s but I remember it well. I loved it!
Well, guess I should make tracks.
