August 11th, 2008What the Heck Have I Been up To?
I think I deserve a slacker award lately! The great thing about summer is that I can not post in a while and not feel a bit guilty about it.
A little over a week ago we went to Great Falls, MT and did the tourist thing. We stopped at Ulm Pishkun at the First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park. Ulm is the town near the jump and Pishkun comes from the Blackfeet word for ‘deep blood kettle’. At a mile long, it’s believe to be the largest jump in North America and was used for 600 years — much longer than most jumps are used.

We also made it out to Ryan Dam to see why Great Falls is called Great Falls. I’ll admit it — I first thought they should have named it ‘Meh Falls’, but before the dam was built, it would have been a beautiful sight.

Since it was going on, and well, we were there, we went to the Montana State Fair, which was also kind of ‘meh’. We did spend the two bucks to see the freak show, though. It was somewhat entertaining.

Other than that we’ve been doing some more fishing, a little geocaching and other various things. I’ve been making ATCs and plans for altering a candy box I have. Now that Dan has been laid-off from his job we plan on a few more trips around Montana and some major geocaching hunts. The Northwest Montana fair should be going live in a few days, so we’ll attend that and the rodeo as well.
Dat’s all I got!

Those pigs, I think I know how to explain how that happens. it’s the same thing with Siamese Twins, although the zygote partially splits and doesn’t fully split. So it’s part of 2 pigs joined.
Montana’s gorgeous. Junior goes there every summer with Grandpa Zombieslayer. One of these days, I’m going to have to visit. I just work too ***** much. Nice Montana pics.

Those pigs are frightening when just looking at them like that. Yikes.. Creepy looking at them but very interesting. Enjoy your time together for now.

Don’t feel bad I post so little in the summer as well.
I’m not so shocked about those pigs as much as the fact that someone actually needed to pickle them…..

Am I the only one who thinks the pigs are interesting?
I hope Dan’s layoff is temporary.
I’ve been to that buffalo jump, but I’ve never seen the dam. Nice pics!

Patia Whatsamatta? They’re only cute li’l pigs!
ZS Yep, that’s exactly how that happens. If you ever watch Discovery Health, they have lots of shows about the very thing you mentioned.
Angel At least I didn’t post the two-faced baby in a jar.
tshsmom I dunno, I thought the pigs were interesting. Dan’s layoff should only be three months, until then, I’m stuck with him.
Did you see the prairie dog towns at the top of the jump? I thought they were more fascinating than the jump.

Those pigs are really freaky. Good luck with Dan hanging around for a few months. :-)

I don’t remember the prairie dog village there. But that year we’d just been to Devil’s Tower, where they have an amazing prairie dog village, so that one always sticks in my mind.
