You caught a glimpse of it in this post, and apparently it’s called a Wood Chipper, and I’m sure I’ll get a comment from someone if this is incorrect. Essentially it’s a big ol’ incinerator. Again, this was at Historic Fort Missoula
I’m sure I’ll get a snide comment from someone about this, but I imagine this is what the inside of a Dalek looks like.
In the first photo you can see this door from the outside.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time while you were there though. It does look like something else when the pix is just coming up but after you look at it, its not as compared to as you would think. LOL… Not sniding here just making a statement.LOL.

We used to have a giant chip burner, like that, here. It’s long gone now, but people still call the road it was on, the “burner road”.
