April 1st, 2008Upgrade Complete
I just upgraded my site using the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plug-in, and all seems to have gone well. Best of all, I no longer have to look at that obnoxious, ‘friendly’ reminder that I need to upgrade. I’ll have to get used to the new dashboard, but that shouldn’t take long. I can already see a few nice additions that I’ll have to check out. In the meantime, if any of you notice anything is broken, please let me know. Like I said, it appears to have upgraded flawlessly, but you never know.

How quaint, automatic upgrade. :lol:
I do it the old fashioned way, manually. Only took an hour to upgrade 7 blogs.

You shouldn’t have any problems. Wordpress.com wouldn’t offer it if it was going to go haywire on you.

I was going to upgrade manually, so I printed out the instructions, got scared, and said to myself, “Hey, wait a minute, aren’t there auto-upgrade plug-ins?” All-in-all, it took about 3-5 minutes from installing the plug-in, to upgrading my database. And my blog was only in maintenance mode for about 3 seconds. The plug-in I installed said it was still in beta and could have bugs, but most of them seemed to be fixed, and involve it not being able to do the upgrade, rather than breaking anything. I was thrilled that it was so quick and easy.
