April 25th, 2007Thursday Thirteen #22
As a semi-existentialist I can make a case for materialism, these all top my list:
1. Shoes — Sneakers, heels, funky platforms, flip-flops — they’re all good!
2. Gadgets — It doesn’t matter what it does, how many things it does, or if I’ll ever need it to do what it does, I love gadgets.
3. DVDs — Especially TV on DVD.
4. Manic Panic — So my hair isn’t always a colour naturally found on the human head, so what? If you don’t like it, that’s your problem!
5. Anything that says, “Burt’s Bees,” on it!
6. Office Supplies — Do I need a half million pens, pencils, erasers, mini-staplers, or post-it note dispensers? No, I don’t even use the post-its at all, but I still have to have them!
7. Bags, binders, totes, filing systems, etc. I’m not the most tidy person, but I can organize like nobody’s business. I may not have a place for my camera bag, but my camera and accessories have a place.
8. Scrapbooking supplies — I have so much stuff, and I haven’t finished a page in, well, a while.
9. Sound systems — I don’t have one, but speaker wires alone will send me into a tizzy! And I will have a 5.1 speaker system for my computer (7.1 would be better, though).
10. Cars — Fast ones. Ones that corner at at least 40 mph. Black is good, too. With a leather interior (and of course, the aforementioned sound system).
11. Plants — Especially orchids and African Violets. I think houseplants make for a healthy household, but our house would look like a jungle if I had it my way. (That is, when we find a house.)
12. Jeans — At one point I had about 50 pairs of jeans. I don’t buy so many anymore (I only have five pairs), and I let the one’s I do have wear out until they fall off, but if I find a great pair at Ross or TJ Maxx, they’re mine!
13. Do cats count? What about dogs? Birds?
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 13 things. Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!
By the way, for last week’s Thursday Thirteen, I listed 13 things on my desk and was asked for photos. Here they are.

I like office supplies, too, and houseplants, which I keep wayyy out of reach of my cats.
And books — can’t have too many books!
Happy TT, and thanks for visiting my blog!

So how come after a year having my first “office” that I am becoming obsessed with various pads of paper and post it notes. Kind of scary since I have a PDA.
Fun list, nothing to apologize for there. Why don’t you do a scrapbook page for next Thursday’s list? LOL

Jennymcb, heh heh, I would, but the majority of my stuff is in storage since we’re not in our own house yet. I know, I know, I buy it, then pack it away to get it out of the way. I packed my digital scrapbooking program, too, so I don’t have it to install on the new computer.

I love our African Violets too (they were my mom’s favorite flowers.)
The only place that looks like a jungle in our home, is our bathroom - and that’s because my husband is a plant nut! He wanted to feel like he was showering outside . . .

I like a lot of the stuff on your list, but Office supplies and plants are the two things that I have a lot of.
Oh and about the hair color above, I’d go for the purple-ish blue. :-)

Love your desktop photo
I’m guilty of mass book, purse, office supply, DVD and scrapbooking supply collecting. It’s a good thing we moved into a smaller house or I’d likely have rooms overflowing with stuff.

Thanks for the pictures! You have a lovely outlook from your desk.
My list would be a lot like yours: books, DVD’s, office supplies, filing stuff, etc. I’ll put this on my TT-idea list!
Thanks for visiting my TT! It’s not that difficult to keep your collection(s) in Excel. Every collection has characteristics and those are the heads of your columns. For example with books the headers are: title, author, ISBN, publisher, year, date bought, etc. Excel lets you sort them in every way. Gotta love it! ;-)

I looooooove the look of your desk. Now I’m thinking that mine might be a little too big.
I love keeping things simple.

Are you sure you aren’t related to my wife
I have two closets full of scrapbooking supplies, and I very secretly toss out at least four handfuls of pens a week (but they’re multiplying, I know they are!)

I’m not a “real” girl when it comes to shoes. Gadgets and sound systems, on the other hand, are my weakness!
You and Z have the same computer desk. Yours is MUCH cleaner.

As far as #4 - I used to always use Punky Colors and I loved having pink, purple or blue. It’s fun and different and pretty. Happy TT13. Mines up at http://anyapples.blogspot.com/

tshsmom, I’m actually pretty good at keeping a clean desk and a clean refrigerator, not so much everything else. It’s a pretty good little desk. It’s sturdy and can fit all of my stuff on it. The only bad thing is the fake veneer stuff kind of flakes off, but otherwise good.

Nice organized look of a workstation. I see you have an HP machine. How do you like it? What model is it? Bonnie has one that looks identical.

Office supplies…yep. Pens, note paper, blank books, notebooks. I’m a complete and utter junkie.
Where’s our self-help group?!?? (We’d be super-organized, and everyone would have plenty of pens.)
