March 2nd, 2007New Dendrobium on the Block
It may be known that I take home more plants than pets, much to Dan’s delight. Otherwise I’d have about 20 cats. I’m hinting, of course, that I bought a new Orchid.
The new Dendrobium Orchid is the mostly green one. The purple one behind it I’ve had for several years, and blooms regularly. This one sent out the bloom spike in January. I expect the new one to still have flowers for quite a while.
EDIT: I have photos of the purple dendrobium on January 9th.

HEY! My dendrobium bloomed too! I love orchids, I’m with you on the plants issue.
I posted pictures of mine too.
Now if I could just get my sick little phalenopsis to revive.

My phalenopsis is thriving as far as foliage, but since we moved it hasn’t bloomed. It was blooming every Feb. I think mine prefers a north exposure, and it’s currently in a southern exposure. It looked like it was going to send a spike up, but it’s just been a bump for a month or two.

Orchids are so beautiful. I’ve never owned one. But I’m going to the local Gardens soon. They have a butterfly exhibit March through April. That’s the room that also holds the orchids. Looking forward to taking pictures again this year.

I used to have almost 100 houseplants. My ex let them all freeze when I was at my mom’s visiting. We had a wood stove and he didn’t get around to feeding the fire. Dead plants and carnage (including frozen water pipes) everywhere.
Is there any wonder he’s the ex-husband?

I used to have about 8 or 9 more orchids, and a roommate decided to help me out by watering them.
Actually, soaking them.
Everyday.
With hard, chloramine treated water.
By the time I got around to watering them at the normal time, they had been standing in so much water the roots were rotten, and there were hard water crusts all over the pots.
And he was offended that I asked him to stop watering my plants. Because, he was afterall, helping me out.
