“Apparently you morons didn’t understand me the first time. I CANNOT take time off from work. I’m not putting my familys wellbeing at stake to participate in this crap. I don’t believe in our “justice” system and I don’t want to have a goddamn thing to do with it. Jury duty is a complete waste of time. I would rather count the wrinkles on my dogs balls than sit on a jury. Get it through your thick skulls. Leave me the fuck alone.”

That’s great! I didn’t try that. It was sucky, and I didn’t like having to judge another person.

The two times I got called the cases had been settled out of court, so I didn’t have to go.

I wouldn’t say jury duty is universally reviled. Some people welcome the time off of work and the whole ‘it’s my duty as a US citizen’ thing. Others can’t afford the time off work and think the system doesn’t work, anyway. Take Jury Nullification, jurors have the right to vote ‘Not Guilty’ if they think the law the defendant broke is stupid (I’m for legalizing marijuana, if I’m on a jury where someone is being tried for possession of marijuana, I can, and would, vote not guilty. But DAs, prosecutors and judges will tell jurors that they cannot make their decisions based on personal opinion of the law — which is simply not true.
