February 16th, 2007I Have GOT to Have These

* Super-brite LED lighting for bright top and bottom illumination
* Video playback at 15 frames/sec
* Resolution of 640×480
* Software works with Windows 98, Me, 2000, XP
* Handheld mode allows for expanded viewing possibilities
* Comes with: Microscope, USB cable, Stand, Specimen Jars, Sample Slide, Tweezers, Eye Dropper, Slide Clip, and Software CD-ROM
A portable cactus? Why not!
The Mini Pet Cactus will love you unconditionally. All you have to do it is water it once a month for about a minute (instructions on packaging). Each cactus comes with a strap to attach to your jacket, cell phone, etc., so you can take it with you everywhere. Nothing says fun like talking to your cactus in a public place - until security asks you to leave, that is. Want to display your new pet at home or in the office? Try the Mini Pet Cactus Stand (sold separately). It has an adhesive back to attach to a wall, your monitor, your forehead, etc. The Mini Pet Cactus is waiting to be adopted…by you!
By the way, ask me in a week how Windows Vista is.

Want a testimonial?
That microscope is the BEST buy there is, when it comes to home microscopes! We got one for Z’s birthday a couple of years ago. We’ve all had a ball with it. It also works as a high-power magnifying glass, which means that light doesn’t need to pass through what you’re viewing. This allows you to view way more objects than you can with a normal microscope.
Transferring the image to your computer also lets you zoom in farther than the microscope’s highest power, which takes you well beyond the 250x that normal microscopes have.
As a family of science geeks, we LOVE this product!

Very cool things you have there. I bet my son would love the microscope. He’s a science geek too.
Windows Vista huh? You made the leap? Let us know how it goes for you.

Tweety, that’s sweet, but I sooo don’t do tags. Yours was fun to read, though.
tshsmom, now I REALLY have to have one!
Laurie, yeah. Our filthy beast had some great upgrades, but a 600 mhz processor, so we just couldn’t go any further with it. So we bought a whole to computer. We were going to just build a new one, or rebuild this one. But since I’ll be returning to school full time, and Dan is working 12 hour days, I just didn’t want to mess with things. So far, I’m thinking I’ll still have to mess with things — there’s a long way to go before this computer feels “homey”.
mslittlepea, I thought the cactus was cute too — you can take it anywhere! (or so they say)

Wow, that looks like fun. I’d better not show the microscope to Ichabod. I’m sure he’d want one.

I’ve seen everything now! A USB microscope! LOL!
I love the portable cactus! I think maybe that’s a “gotta have”.
Trying out Windows Vista, are you? Hubby is dead-set against it but I admit to a certain amount of curiosity. I’ll be watching to see what you have to say about it.
Take care, Courtney!

Without being able to fully articulate why, I can say that Bear has a good reason to be dead set against it.
Have you seen the Mac vs. PC commercial with the security guy standing behind PC saying, “cancel or allow?” at everything? That’s not exaggerated. And I would never, ever dream of pirating software — because I CAN’T.

Well, I don’t see the need to upgrade to Vista just yet. I waited a year before I upgraded (bought a new machine) with XP. I’ll probably do the same again.
The microscope looks like it would be fun and yes, if Bunni wants a portable cactus she can have one! LOL

I broke down an ordered one — it should be here this week. The microscope is out of stock, but I think I’ll be getting one when they arrive. ThinkGeek is the cheapest that I’ve found online, and I’m willing to wait.
I would have been perfectly fine waiting to upgrade to Vista, but our filthy beast was on it’s last legs, so we just took the plunge. Once I figure out the hacks, I’ll probably be more comfortable with it. Part of me wants to just wipe the whole thing, and install XP on the new HD, but it’s too much.
