January 22nd, 2008Don’t Tickle the Dragon
Okay, you’ll definitely want to click the pictures for the larger versions, because these just don’t look good small. I drew these on paper and then scanned them in. I’m still learning how to use my Wacom Tablet, so I only cleaned up some of the lines and smudges (I see I missed a spot on the first one). The second dragon (but the first one I drew) was a little too large for my scanner, so the top is cut off. Once I get the hang of using the Tablet pen, I’ll add some colour. Not bad for the first dragon’s I’ve ever drawn, eh?

Those are cool.. You are going to have to do me a favor and take a post the blanket for me. I forgot to take a photo of it before I sent it to post it on my blog. Its more the pattern people want to see than how much some one spent on yarn.. Glad you liked it though. But your drawing is amazing. I cant draw for nothing.

I just noticed this: what’s defiant about clicking for a larger picture? *giggle* *snort*

I’m always very delighted to stumble across a fellow artists work. Just recently this happened and I was inspired to draw again.
Those are very good pieces. Don’t shy away from hard shading and light sources though (sorry, I hate to critique). My high school art teacher was always pressing about this and I’ve somewhat adopted his technique in this respect. I have a dragon piece I’ve yet to scan and post (it’s an unfinished painting in gauche). All said, your attention to detail is great. To be honest the eye on the first one is splendid…seriously. Do you start on the eyes too? LOL.

Larro, thanks for your comments. I’m not usually shy about shading and light sources. I recently bought a Wacom Tablet, and I’d like to add colour and value that way. I was planning on working on another dragon that will be just a pencil drawing, which I’ll post when finished.
Thanks, also, for the comment on the first one’s eye. I actually work on the face last, especially since I have a hard time with eyes.

Oh, ok.
Wow, I just looked up the Wacom Tablet and that looks really cool. That would seem really strange to me. How is the interface and usability?

The interface is really simple, and the usability takes some getting used to, but after a while, it’s great.
