March 20th, 2007What The… ???

You caught a glimpse of it in this post, and apparently it’s called a Wood Chipper, and I’m sure I’ll get a comment from someone if this is incorrect. Essentially it’s a big ol’ incinerator. Again, this was at Historic Fort Missoula

I’m sure I’ll get a snide comment from someone about this, but I imagine this is what the inside of a Dalek looks like.

In the first photo you can see this door from the outside.

I did promise more photos from Fort Missoula, I did not, however, count on our ISP switch to leave us internet-less. I only got a little cranky, I swear! (I can hear you all now in unison, “poor Dan!”)

These are (obviously) of a steam train located near the museum at Historic Fort Missoula. When you walk up to the platform there’s a bit of information that I didn’t bother to read, and you can look inside the cab. [edit] If you know as little about steam trains as I do, check out the Wiki. It has a diagram that labels all of the components.

Wondering what that funky red ‘building’ is behind the train? I didn’t think so, but there are photos of the Wood Chipper (or so Dan tells me) at a later date.

March 10th, 2007Untitled at Fort Missoula

Yesterday Dan and I went to Missoula. Partly so Dan could purchase bags and boards for his comics, and partly to see a few things we hadn’t before. We’ve been to Missoula plenty of times, but had never stopped at Historic Fort Missoula. It was a pleasant half an hour, but I’m certainly glad it is not the only reason we made the trip. :(

More photos from Fort Missoula to come in the next few days.
