Not a movie to be seen then? I just saw the previews on tv about it over the weekend and thought they are just getting to making a movie about this? I read the book when I was in 12th grade English. The teacher made us read another book and compare the two. The Knights of the Round Table if I remember right.
I actually liked how the did the story, but the film is so tedious to watch. It’s almost as if there are different grades of CGI used. Some scenes look like they could have come out of Shrek. Other scenes make you wonder, “did they just switch to live-action?” It’s difficult to enjoy the movie, or pay attention to the story, if you’re always adjusting your eyes.
Hmmm, and I was really looking forward to seeing how they did this one. I s’pose I’ll watch it for the story line but I’ll be prepared with the technics. Or lack thereof. *sigh* I had such high hopes that this would be a keeper.
OK, I was about to freak out here. This is the ONLY movie on my must-see list. I don’t care as much about the effects as I do the story. My guys are another story, but too bad.
Okay, to be more specific, the CGI is fan-effing-tastic. But it is NOT consistent. The lowest quality of CGI is better than Shrek, but the highest grade of CGI is ‘live-action’-like. It’s the inconsistency that bothered me.
I enjoyed the story. It’ wasn’t “Beowulf” to me. But it was closer than any other film adaptation (remember that my favourite is “Beowulf and Grendel”).
I love special effects, and I knew this was a CGI film, but I may like this better on a second filming, because I’ll know what to expect.
By the way, I know that Angelina’s got some boobs, but I think they gave her an extra few cups, and moved her nipples up an inch or so.
I totally get what you’re saying. My guys will probably have the exact same review as you. They’re very picky about their CGI and other animation. Me? I just enjoy the ride AND there’d better be a decent story-line for me to sit through a movie!

So, you recommend that I stick with the book and by-pass the film?
